Price: Free, but reservations are recommended
Austin Playhouse is excited to announce their Spring Theatre for Youth Production of The Imaginators by Dwayne Hartford. The play tells the story of a brother and sister, Tim and Ann, who have just moved to a new town. Tim loves to play games and make up stories. However, Anne refuses to play with him, fearing that someone from their new school or, even worse, their popular neighbor Nina, will make fun of her. When Nina comes over, she takes Tim and Anne on a make-believe adventure using only boxes and whatever they can find in the garage to create their imaginary world. Eventually, by learning their own strengths, working as a team, and using the unlimited power of their imaginations, they escape the child eating monster, Mooklecratz.
The show runs from Saturday, April 15th and 22nd at 2 pm. Austin Playhouse believes that an early introduction to theatre helps students learn creativity, social skills and critical thinking. Students should be challenged to actively listen, imagine new worlds, and relate to the struggles of characters on stage. At its best, theatre introduces new cultures and ideas, as well as new ways of looking at our own culture and ideas.
Because Austin Playhouse believes cost should not be a factor, all performances of our Theatre for Youth productions are free.
The Imaginators is targeted to grades 2 - 6, but is appropriate for the whole family.
Reservations are recommended. Call the Box Office at (512) 476 - 0084 or visit www.austinplayhouse.com
