Quickly becoming one Texas' hottest culinary events of the year, the Third Annual Butcher's Ball returns to Rockin' Star Ranch in Brenham, Texas (8002 Fuelberg Pease Lane, Brenham, Texas 77883), on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 1-6 p.m. for a day of tastings, competitions, demonstrations, education, entertainment and more. Located between Austin and Houston, this event aims to highlight local growers and producers adhering to ethical and sustainable ranching and farming practices and those chefs and restaurants that utilize them - while raising funds for Houston-based non-profit Urban Harvest and their ongoing farmers markets that directly support these farmers and ranchers. In 2017, The Butcher's Ball redirected all monies raised from the event to go directly to farms and ranches affected by Hurricane Harvey - totaling over $25,000. The continued partnership with Urban Harvest will ensure that this event provides an ongoing way to support these businesses and more.
Throughout the day, a public competition for the "best bite" will earn the winning chef the coveted Golden Cleaver award - currently held by two-time winner Willow Villarreal of Willow's Texas BBQ. Austinites are invited to come and see the state's best chefs compete for this award, including Austin's own Julia Poplawsky.
In addition, The Butcher's Ball will include the following:
Tickets for the 2018 Butcher's Ball include all food and beverages throughout the event, as well as the opportunity to participate in workshops and are $100 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under.
