"ABSOLUTE MUSIC": Photographs by Tracy Anne Hart
Texas music photographer and online gallery owner Tracy Anne Hart will have a major exhibition of her prints of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Vintage Trouble, Eric Tessmer, Ian Moore, Gary Clark Jr, Jimmie Vaughan and many more early next year in Austin, Texas.
Opening February 17 at Antone's, 305 East 5th Street in the beautifully restored upstairs loft space at the legendary club, the show is one of a series proceeding the release of Hart's book of her Stevie Ray Vaughan images. The show opens from 6:00-9:00pm Friday, 2/17/2017 before Eric Tessmer's headlining show downstairs. There will then be a VIP Afterparty. During the print exhibit opening a Gary Clark Jr. model Epiphone Casino Blak and Blu and hard case and print will be auctioned to benefit the Sims Foundation.
Much like the exhibition the book features SRV, some of his influences, and the great players who've come after Vaughan. Tracy Anne Hart is a frequent contributor to Guitar Player, Vintage Guitar, the German magazine Grand Gtr and others. Her work is featured at the House of Blues Dallas, the Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos in Las Vegas and Vancouver, Canada and the Bullock Museum in Austin. Her images will be a major part of the Stevie Ray Vaughan exhibit curated by the Grammy Museum opening in Austin during SXSW 2017, and she will continue to work with the Grammy Museum throughout 2017-18. Hart's images were also included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for SRV and its broadcast on HBO.
In addition to archival prints from 13" X 19" to 36" X 24", show posters and an exhibition catalogue will be for sale. A percentage of all sales will benefit the Food Bank, one of Stevie Ray Vaughan's favorite charities. The show is sponsored by Zeiss, Precision Camera and Video, Fuller's Vintage Guitars and by Tracy and Roberta Prater.
In case you're wondering about that title: "Absolute Music", it comes from a quote in Herman Hesse's Demian: "I like listening to music, but only the kind you play, absolute music, the kind that makes you feel that someone is rattling at the doors of heaven and hell." If there's a better description of Stevie Ray Vaughan's playing, look for it in Hart's book and photographs.
You can visit Hart's gallery website at www.theheightsgallery.com and her Blog at www.tracyannehart.wordpress.com for updates and more information on the show, including more on the images and on live music events during the exhibition.
