Chorus Austin’s select Chamber Ensemble will present “Southwest Voices,” a concert featuring works by Austin, Texas and southwestern composers at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 8134 Mesa Dr., and 4 p.m. Sunday, May 21, St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3501 Red River St. Tickets, at $25 general admission and $20 for seniors and $15 for students and active military, are available online at www.chorusaustin.org, at the door or by calling (512) 719-3300. Chorus Austin Artistic Director Ryan Heller will lead the 32 singers in a program that features the moving Requiem: An Embrace by San Antonio native Paul Marbach. World premiere performances include works by Austin-area composers and Chorus Austin singers Stephanie Andrews, Eric Johnson and Ashley Foster Oheim and former Austinite Ben May. Highlighting the program is the presentation of the winning work in Chorus Austin’s fourth annual Young Composers Competition: Seven Seconds of Love by Carlos Cordero, a graduate student at Moores School of Music at the University of Houston.
