Opening Reception/Artist Talk - Tommy Fitzpatrick Saturday, Feb 25 4-8 pm
Opening Reception for Tommy Fitzpatrick's solo exhibition 'recognition of sight' is being held Saturday, February 25, 4-8 pm with an Artist Talk at 6 pm featuring moderator Dr. Stephen Caffey, Texas A & M, College of Architecture. For over 20 years Tommy Fitzpatrick has been creating a large and diverse body of work. In the beginning, he painted architecture as a geometric representation and then more recently has demonstrated a push towards abstraction. The exhibition 'recognition of sight', February 18 through March 12, follows his progression as an artist, offering a rare opportunity to see sculptures, created from found materials, which form the basis for his paintings. Born in Dallas in 1969, Tommy Fitzpatrick received a B.A. in Fine Art from the University of Texas in Austin in 1991, followed by an M.F.A. from Yale University School of Art in 1993. His work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Dallas, Houston, New York, Madrid, London, Berlin and Seoul. His work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Menil Collection as well as the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Fitzpatrick is currently an Associate Professor of painting at Texas State University. He resides in New Braunfels, Texas.
