A three-day golf tournament with players using antique or reproduction hickory-shaft golf clubs. Day 1 (March 23) is the Swift Trophy Matches, an 18-hole match-play competition with USA players against Canadian players. Days 2 and 23 (March 24-25) is a two-day, 36-hole stroke-play competition with several divisions: Championship, Senior (60+), Statesman (70+) and Ladies. There is also a Scramble Division. Period attire is encouraged (read: plus-fours and other early 20th century attire). The 2016 event drew 60 players from 12 states and Canada. Bill Eschenbrenner, a member of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame, was the guest speaker at the 2016 awards banquet. The 2017 guest speaker will be Ms. Robin Burke of Champions Golf Club in Houston, recently inducted into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. Jeremy Wright of Houston is the defending champion with a score of 150. Jeremy also won the 2015 Championship. He shares the low gross record of 150 with the late Randy Clark of Irving, Texas. The Lone Star Model A Ford Club will display several Model A Ford automobiles behind the 18th green on Saturday, March 25, beginning at 2:00 PM.
