Irish singer-songwriters Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly make up the Celtic folk duo Byrne and Kelly and have just announced that they’re releasing a music documentary film titled Echoes: The Story on March 31st. Driven by solid vocal harmonies, the duo seamlessly combines genres like traditional Irish and Americana to create a fresh Celtic folk sound. On a Wednesday afternoon in early December, Byrne and Kelly, along with their bandmates Nicole Hudson and Cian Sweeney, performed their album Echoes in its entirety in front of a small, intimate audience in Kansas City, Missouri for the filming event. The film’s director, Michael McGlinn, then joined Byrne and Kelly back home in Ireland as they explored the beautiful scenery of the Emerald Isle and told the stories of how their songs, which are rich in Irish history and culture, came to be.
The four piece band will hit the road this Spring in support of the album Echoes starting in Tulsa on March 22nd and ending in Orlando on April 14th. The Summer tour begins June 1st in Denver, CO and ends July 12th with their first annual Byrne and Kelly Fan Retreat in Lake Placid, New York.
The duo released their chart-topping album Echoes in March of 2016 and within the first week of its release Echoes received immediate chart success and hit the #1 spot on the iTunes World Music chart, #1 Amazon Traditional Folk and #1 Amazon Traditional British & Folk charts, Amazon Top 100 Album, Billboard Top 5 World Album and Google Play Top World Album.
Neil and Ryan are two of the principal singers in the Irish show Celtic Thunder and have been performing in the show since its inception in 2008. With that, they’ve toured the world with the show and still continue to do so. In 2012 the duo performed a series of shows called Acoustic By Candlelight which was the starting point and creation of Byrne and Kelly. In 2013, their first album Acoustically Irish took the Billboard #1 chart position, World Album #1 on iTunes in the United States, Australia and Canada, Amazon #1 World Album and cdbaby Global Chart #1.
Byrne and Kelly were awarded ‘Best Duo in a Concert, Pub or Festival’ and ‘Best New Album’ in 2013 by the Irish Music Association and in 2014 their second album Live in Australia, which was recorded live in Sydney, Australia, reached #1 on Billboard, iTunes, Amazon and cdbaby World music charts.
