Come join us on a night with some exciting Brazilian music, very danceable and fun! Tio Chico is a new group in town formed by veterans of the Brazilian music scene in Austin that deliver talent, diversity, grace, high energy and a multitude of rhythms. Maracatu Texas will be opening the night bringing their thunderous, folkloric, magnificent drums. Guaranteed Fun!!! About Maracatu Texas: Maracatu Texas* plays Maracatu in addition to many other popular Brazilian rhythms such as the coco, Candomblé, frevo, and ciranda. The group is not strictly traditional and uses various elements of other world musics in its arrangements. https://www.facebook.com/MaracatuTexas/ About Tio Chico: Tio Chico is a project started by Frank Almendra, a member of many Austin Brazilian bands, but this one is the first in which he sings and has a chance to showcase his own compositions. Joining him on this project is guitar extraordinaire Sergio Yazbek, Grammy nominated and longtime Cidade Negra and Toni Garrido's band member. A talented group of their musician friends helps them to create a sound that is unique and original with a Brazilian and World music feel. https://www.facebook.com/tiochicoatx/
