Ars-Poetica: Culture, Politics and Poetry- A Lecture by Poet Adi Keissar

Admission is free but please RSVP to galit@austin.utexas.edu Please join us for an event with Adi Keissar, Israeli poet and founder of Ars Poetica, a contemporary Israeli poetry group. This event will feature Miss Keissar reading some of her poetry in Hebrew, followed by readings in English. Afterward, Miss Keissar will discuss social hierarchy in culture, identity in poetry, 'Ars Poetica' poetry project and its impact on culture in Israel. Adi Keissar represents a minority group in Israel, and is considered to be a strong female voice that poses a serious alternative to mainstream Israeli poetry and cultural narratives. This event is cosponsored by the Schusterman Center for Jewish Studies, Texans for Israel, the Department of English, and the Program in Comparative Literature.
