When Austin guitarist Evan Johns died March 11, the city was just gearing up for another South by Southwest stretch, which made it hard for a fitting memorial event to take place quickly. His friends persevered toward that end, though, and the result is a remarkably strong lineup of musicians with ties to Johns’ stellar career. Local groups Churchwood, the Gay Sportscasters and the LeRoi Brothers join the D.C. Weenies, featuring former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra backed by an ace crew of roots-rockers. Rounding out the bill, which features music on both of the club’s stages, are renowned Dallas one-man band Homer Henderson, Johns’ friend since childhood Ivan Brown, Don Leady & the Tailgators, Pehr Smith, Keith Kinkle & Spare Change, and Dunebuggy. The $10 cover charge benefits the SIMS Foundation. 8 p.m. 2538 Guadalupe St. holeinthewallaustin.com. — P.B.
