1st Annual Earth Day 5K Troll Trot and Don’t Mess with Texas Trash Off

Keep Salado Beautiful is a supporting sponsor of the 1st Annual Earth Day 5K Troll Trot, held Saturday, April 22, 2017 along the beautiful streets of Salado, Texas. The race route will feature the rich history and natural beauty of our Village, and highlight the public gardens and hidden art, especially Billy Goat Gruff and the Troll at the Green Bridge Garden. The race begins and ends at historic College Hill at 8 am. Sign up at Runsignup.com/trolltrot. Prizes will be awarded in adult and youth divisions. Keep Salado Beautiful will have a variety of materials available on water conservation, native plants, rain barrels, turf grasses, and other earth friendly guides. Marjorie Gilmeister, Sustainable Vegetable Farmer and Eggshell Gardening Guru will have seedlings and fresh produce for sale. Master Gardeners will demonstrate rain barrels, and other vendors are anticipated. Hecho En Queso, homemade Mexican Fusion food trailer will provide breakfast. Earth Day continues with a competitive community Trash Off: a $500 donor-funded award will be given to the civic club, school group, or neighborhood that collects the most trash.
